Mango Plant
Irrigation system for mango in Sicily
The plant near Mascali (Sicily) extends over a small area of just over 1 hectare. The land is made up of several terraces, one for each sector. The plant is powered by a 50,000 liter tank at a higher altitude than the countryside level. The land has a strong difference in height which must be taken into consideration for the irrigation network. The system is made up of diameters varying from 110 mm to 32 mm and butterfly nozzles.
The Project
Mango plants have a planting space of 3 x 4 metres. A request per plant of 80 litres/week was considered, supplied in 2 shifts of 40 litres. Below are some starting documents and the results of the hydraulic simulation.
Project objective
Starting from a detailed survey elaborated in a CAD drawing, the objective of the project was to modify an existing system in order to improve uniformity and efficiency with the lowest possible cost.
